Fabric and tailor's scissors: cut out for the job
Tailor's scissors are specifically designed to cut through fabric without causing frayed edges. There are two main differences between 'regular' scissors and tailor's scissors: the two eyes are often asymmetrical, keeping the elongated eye at the bottom when you're using the scissors. This allows you to pass the scissors under a large piece of fabric without the fabric shifting. Secondly, fabric scissors have an extra-long cutting surface that is sharp as a razor. This improves precision and prevents your scissors from getting stuck in the fabric, which would causing fraying.
