Très bon couteau, finition à la japonaise, rien à dire.
J'ai l'habitude de démonter les couteaux quand ils arrivent pour retoucher des petits détails (en général un petit ébavurage d'une ou deux pièces). Là, rien...
S'il fallait être "pinailleur", deux petites têtes de vis qui dépassent du bois du manche mais, sans gêner la prise en main.

Mooi mes. Erg puntig. Het lemmet glimt ondanks de "lichte mattering"; je kunt de grain goed zien maar er is duidelijk een beetje gepolijst. Handgreep is goed, vingers zitten precies waar ze moeten zitten volgens de inkepingen. Balans is neutraal. Clip is erg fijn; het mes verdwijnt in zijn geheel in je zak.

Komt volgens mij met een 15 graden plain edge; komt scheerscherp uit de fabriek maar was na een paar keer karton snijden eigenlijk niet zo scherp meer. Gebruikmakende van het Lansky slijpsysteem een wat stevigere 25 graden edge gemaakt zonder micro bevel. Hierdoor bleef hij langer scherp, maar toch niet helemaal tevreden met de edge retention. 

Het mes opent een beetje stroef; wellicht komt dat doordat het geen zwaar mes is, of door een redelijk dikke liner (1,2 mm) waardoor hij niet gemakkelijk met één hand te openen is zonder er flink wat polsbeweging in te gooien. Lock-up is wel goed, geen beweging in te krijgen wanneer hij uitgeklapt is. De duimsteun zit ook redelijk dicht tegen de liner aan waardoor je meer kracht moet zetten om het mes te openen. Ik heb nog een mes, een Smith & Wesson S.W.A.T. First Millennium Run in 440C met een wat groter lemmet waarbij dat de duimsteun wat beter geplaatst is. De liner van dat mes is 1,0 mm. Opent een stuk soepeler en gemakkelijker dan de Mcusta.

De tekst die op het mes staat is binnen een paar dagen gaan slijten en ziet er nu eigenlijk best lelijk uit. Jammer.

Misschien is het beter om een paar tientjes extra uit te geven voor een mes van Elmax staal van ZT als gewicht niet belangrijk is; dan heb je een mes dat minder flashy is maar langer functioneel blijft. (Of een je neemt een 556, die is wel flashy.)
