This sharpening stone uses resin to bind the abrasives, in this case white aluminium oxide.  

It does not soak up water and therefore does not require frequent wetting. Super Stones wear slowly and maintain a constant sharpening effect.  

  
  



These stone works best on harder types of steel  

Splash with water before and during sharpening, do not soak or store in water.  
  

**About grit sizes**  

Whetstones come in various grit sizes. The higher the number, the finer the grit. A finer grit results in a sharper knife. Sharpening a really dull knife on a fine grit will take much time, so you will need to treat it on a coarser grit first.  
  



* 120 - 600: Appropriate when real dull knives need to be brought back in the right shape

* 800 - 1,000: Appropriate to sharpen knives that were already in a reasonable state

* 2,000 - 3,000: For a result sharper than most knives are when they leave the factory

* 5,000 - 12,000: To polish the knife and get a razor sharp edge

zur Endschärfe für mein Rasiermesser ideal!

Geweldig  slijpsteen. Korrel 8000 is voor wat mij betreft klein genoeg. Alleen nog stroppen en ik kan me scheren met mijn zakmes!

Ik heb bij Knivesandtools een tweetal bestellingen geplaatst. Allereerst de Eden slijpset (2 stenen, 4 korrelgroottes + ker. staaf) en vervolgens de Naniwa 8000 superstone.

Over het bestelproces, verpakking en bezorging niets negatiefs te melden. Duidelijk site, veel informatie, goed advies van de klantenservice (na telefoontje) en bezorging in beide gevallen op de volgende dag.

Vorige week was er 10% korting op alle slijpstenen. Dit dus nadat ik twee bestellingen voor slijpstenen had geplaatst (2 en 3 weken voor de aanbieding). Een mailtje van mij geresulteerde die zelfde dag nog in een voucher t.w.v. 10% van de eerdere bestellingen. Erg netjes en klantgericht!

Over de producten: de stenen uit de Eden slijpset zijn inderdaad een stuk kleiner dan de Naniwa stenen. Wel een goed en voordelig alternatief voor het basis onderhoud van je messen. De stenen hebben een goede hardheid ook voor de beginnende slijper. Het betaalbare alternatief van Naniwa zou te zacht zijn en de hardere stenen van dit merk erg duur aangezien je een hele serie moet bestellen. Wel is het zo dat je de stenen eerst moet laten volzuigen met water en dus daarna drogen. Verder is inderdaad de scherpte na het slijpen op de Eden 5000 niet vergelijkbaar met de zelfde korrelgrootte op de Naniwa stenen. Daarom de Naniwa 8000 superstone erbij besteld.

De klantenservice gaf aan dat de Naniwa 5000 steen een goede aansluiting geeft op de Eden 5000. De 10.000 en 12.000 stenen zouden een extra tussenstap nodig hebben (of slijpen tot je een ons weegt). Ik heb gekozen voor de 8000 steen als gulden middenweg en dat bevalt goed. Deze geeft ook een prima aansluiting op de Eden 5000, scheermesscherp in een paar minuten. Wel voorzichtig slijpen want ook deze steen is nog wat zacht. Bij de hogere dichtheden is dit echter niet zo'n probleem omdat je weinig kracht zet.

Uiteindelijk is de combinatie van deze beide sets een goede en betaalbare manier om je (keuken)messen scheermesscherp te krijgen. De Eden-set is een betaalbare en rubuuste set voor het voorwerk, de Naniwa voor de puntjes op de i. het beste van beide werelden... 

Je viens d'affûter 7 couteaux;avec stades:240-800-1000-3000-8000 pour 2 d'entr'eux et les autres qui étaient encore coupants:800-1000-3000-8000.Et cela pour me rendre vraiment compte de l'efficacité de ma nouvelle" super stone 8000".J'ai été vraiment impressionné par la qualité obtenue de l'affûtage.Un tranchant rasoir.Je tranche les tomates aussi facilement que montrent les japonais dans leur vidéo sur les couteaux en lame Aogami série 2(papier bleu) Donc très content de mon achat.J'ai hésité avec une 10.000 mais celle-ci suffit amplement.

The Naniwa 8000 is perfect for honing e.g. straight razors - finish with a 12000 stone, strop and shave :-)
