Natural polishing stone from the Belgian Ardennes. Use after sharpening to polish your knives sharp like a razor.

The Coticule 'Standard' sharpening stone is comprised of a top layer of Coticule and a bottom layer of unusable black slate. The Coticule stone has a grit between 6000 and 8000 and contains 30 to 42% garnets. This makes the stone very hard. As such your knives will be razor-sharp again in no time. Because of the fine structure of the stone the fold of the sharpened knife will be smooth leaving you with razor-sharp results. Many people use the Coticule stones to sharpen their classic straight razor. 

The Coticule has a yellow-white colour with sometimes a red and green glow. 'Selected' offers a homogeneous stone while the 'Standard' comes with some visible beauty flaws or natural discolourations. This, however, won't affect the qualities of the stone. However, because of the delicate edge we recommend using a Coticule Selected Stone when sharpening a straight razor. 

Coticule sharpening stones are natural products. They are modified by hand. As such small differences in shape and size cannot be ruled out.

Ik vond de prijs hoog, maar ik heb nu wel een perfecte manier om mijn beitels en schaven in een top conditie te krijgen. Het is een plezier om met echt scherp gereedschap te kunnen werken.

Der sehr effektive, schnelle Materialabtrag an der Klinge als auch die gleichzeitige Polierleistung sind beim gelben belgischen Brocken (Standard) 200x60mm aus den "Ardennes-Coticule" tatsächlich einzigartig und eine Klasse für sich. Das Schleifbild entspricht mindestens einer 8000´er Körnung im Vergleich zu einem japanischen Wasserstein finde ich. Das Finger-Feedback beim Schleifen auf dem gelben belgischen Brocken ist exzellent. Ich kannte bisher nur japanische, künstliche Wasserschleifsteine in den Körnungen von 150 - 12000, die natürlich auch alle ihre Existenzberechtigung haben. Das Schleifen bzw. finale Abziehen auf dem gelben belgischen Brocken ist dann aber doch eine ganz neue Erfahrung, die ich nicht mehr missen möchte. Außerdem ist der Stein "splash & go", also sofort einsatzbereit. Der gelbe belgische Brocken nutzt sich zwar kaum ab, ist aber trotzdem relativ weich gebunden. Eine gewisse Konzentration beim Arbeiten ist also gefordert, da man beim Verkanten mit dem Messer sonst schnell eine
unschöne Macke im Stein hat. Abrichten lässt sich der gelbe belgische Brocken problemlos. Ich nehme hierfür z.B. das SandBlaster 255P Schleifpapier (entspricht einer 320´er Körnung) von 3M. Damit wird die Steinoberfläche wieder super-glatt und plan. 
Eine absolute Kaufempfehlung und (fast) ein Pflichtkauf für alle Enthusiasten des Messerschleifens auf Stein.
PS: Obwohl ich nur die "Standard"-Variante dieses Steins gekauft habe, ist mein Exemplar absolut frei von Lunkern oder Rissen. Wirklich eine tolle Qualität, wenn nur der Preis für Belgische Brocken nicht so happig wäre ,-)

Très satisfait de cette pierre naturelle qui devient de plus en plus rare à ce jour.
Affutage très fin, le tranchant de l'outil est plus coupant.

Dit is een super steen en een ware aanvulling bij mijn Japanse stenen. Ik heb die erbij gekocht omdat ik soms een steen meeneem als ik bij vrienden op bezoek ga en ik even hun mes bijslijp. Deze steen hoeft niet ondergedompeld te worden. Gewoon Splash and go en na gebruik even afdrogen en je kan die weer opbergen.
Service van KATO was weer perfect zoals gewoonlijk.

Der Stein hat zwar einen sehr hohen Preis, 124.- Euro.
Bei richtiger Handhabung von Stein und Messer erhält man aber wieder ein sehr scharfes Messer und muß es wirklich nach persönlichem Bedarf und persönlicher Einschätzung nachschärfen. Ich sage. Lieber einmal mehr als das Messer zu stumpf werden lassen.
