As the name might already suggest the Victorinox **Climber is** a Swiss pocket knife developed for climbing and survival expeditions. This knife, however, also has tools that can be real life savers during a trip to, for instance, the Ardennes. The Climber is perfect when you want to take a knife with you that isn't too large and heavy but does have enough functions. This knife has at least fourteen stainless steel functions, sharp and strong! In addition to a large and small knife this classic officer's knife is equipped with scissors, a can opener, cork screw and tweezers. The tools are protected by the solid casing. Whether you are planning to climb a ladder or steep mountain. The Victorinox Climber will always guide you to the top.


## Most important tools


### Large knife


The large knife is razor-sharp and has a cutting edge of at least 6 cm. Once opened there is no wiggle room. As such it is suited for the more heavy-duty tasks. When opening and closing the blade you hear a familiar click. 


### Awl


What do you use an awl for? For all tasks you wouldn't use the tip of your knife! The awl has a one-sided grind. As such it is great to make markings on wood. Which side of the line should you adhere to when you mark something with a pencil? With an awl this isn't a problem. In addition, it is very practical to use an awl to prick into soft metals. To mark where you should drill for instance. 


### Corkscrew


After removing the foil from the cork you can remove the cork with the corkscrew. The most creative way of using a corkscrew is using it as a coat rack. Turn the corkscrew into a wall and use the handle as a hanger. 


### Combination tool


 A practical tool is the combination tool. This tool can be used as a bottle opener, wire stripper and screw driver.

Na 42 jaar en 4 maanden dagelijks gebruik begon m'n Victorinox teveel slijtage te vertonen. Tijd dus voor een nieuwe. Ik denk niet dat ik de volgende 42 jaar haal. Mijn kleinzoon zal er blij mee zijn.

Klassieker.

Deze variant bevat voor mij bijna alles, en dat is het leuke aan het klassiek zakmes, je kan de configuratie kiezen want er zijn zoveel combinaties.

Het grote gemis is de kruisschroevendraaier.

Ik heb me hiermee uitgeleefd en verschillende functies toegevoegd die ik nog nuttig vond.

Het frame is met 3 secties een goed heft om vast te houden en voor mij voldoende klein om als 2e tool mee te dragen.
Na modificaties is het 91x18x26mm

Als ik victorinox punten moet aftrekken:
Op het tool van de grote schroevendraaier/flessenopener zit een kleine inkeping. Victorinox beweert al jaar en dag dat dit een "wire stripper" is. Maar dit is enkel zo in een zakmes met 2 secties waar het groot mes vlak naast de kabel stripper ligt, zo kan je met beide de kabel in plaats houden terwijl je de mantel snijd. Hier is dat dus niet mogelijk vanwege de schaar tussenin.
Ik heb deze inkeping zeer scherp afgeschuind tot een snijkant tot een "wire stripper" van andere merken. Op hun Swisstool weet victorinox wel hoe een echte wire stripper eruit ziet.

Een ander punt is dat de kleine platte schroevendraaier te ondiep is, hierdoor is er niet echt een realistisch scenario waar je de kleine platte schroevendraaier kan gebruiken op de meestal bijhorende verzonken openingen (plastieken behuizingen, rijgklemmen,..) waar je zo een kleine platte schroevendraaier voor nodig zou hebben.
