Sabatier knives are the icon of French cuisine The slim, elegant Lion Sabatier Idéal knives are still faithful to the traditional design that dates back to 1812! Years, however, go by and the materials used are being upgraded.

The blade is made from French N4116 Nitro+ steel. A stainless type of steel that is also easy to sharpen. The knife is made from a single piece of steel that extends completely into the handle. Because of this, the balance is excellent. The bolster extends to the heel of the blade. It will make you feel safe. After all, you do not come into direct contact with the blade.

The handles are made from POM. Which is a durable and maintenance-friendly plastic variant. The handles fit seamlessly with the bolster and are held in place with brass rivets. The combination of material fits perfectly with this traditional design.

I first bought an identical knife a long time ago, perhaps 15 years, from a store in a local town. It became my favourite knife and I used it heavily. Eventually, however, it suffered from wear and tear and somebody (I don't think it was me) managed to break the tip off it by inserting it clumsily into a wooden knife block. With a birthday coming up, I decided to ask for a replacement as a present. No, this knife isn't cheap and there are many inferior ones on the market at much lower prices, but I wanted to get an exact replacement. Unfortunately the store in which I originally bought it succumbed many years ago to selling only the cheaper products so I had to resort to the Internet to buy this product. However, from many years of experience, I can testify that it is a good knife and worth the price.

Het mes is perfect en voldoet helemaal aan de (hoge) verwachtingen, gebaseerd op onze jarenlange ervaring met dit merk. De gratis etsservice is absoluut grote klasse. Wat dat betreft dus alleen maar tienen. Het enige minpuntje zit 'm in het feit dat de punt van het mes bij aankomst zeker een centimeter uit de doos stak! Het mes is dus niet alleen door de plastic hoes, maar ook door de verpakkingsdoos heen gekomen. Erg gevaarlijk voor de koerier en voor mij als ontvanger, maar ook niet goed voor het mes. Dat valt me een beetje tegen bij zo'n topmerk.
Advies: een plastic beschermkapje over de punt aanbrengen. Zelfs de messen van Fontignac uit de actie van Plus supermarkten hebben een dergelijke bescherming.
