American knife designer Chuck Gedraitis, in collaboration with Böker, has designed the **Böker Plus Atropos 01BO913 VG10, Micarta**, a tactical pocket knife rooted in the legacy of Rex Applegate's iconic designs. This pocket knife has a symmetrical design, characterised by its single-sided sharpened blade. The knife opens smoothly thanks to ball bearings and the removable thumb disc. The knife comes with a tip-up clip and a nylon sheath.




## Steel: VG10
The blade of this Böker is made of VG10 steel. This is a very nice and popular type of steel from Japan. It is corrosion resistant, easy to sharpen to a razor-sharp edge and retains its sharpness very well.



The ‘stonewash’ process was chosen for the finish of this blade. The stonewash process involves the blade being placed inside a drum with ceramic stones, or media, and then vibrated or tumbled for several hours. The result is a finish that looks precisely polished or roughened depending on the version. The advantage of stonewashing, however, is that signs of use are much less noticeable. That makes it a popular choice for knives that see a lot of use.



## Micarta handle

The handle of this Böker Plus is made of micarta and measures 12.9 cm in length. Micarta is a great material for pocket knife handles. This material is grippy, relatively lightweight and it looks very cool. It is composed of fabric fibres and synthetic resin. The resulting layers often even make micarta look a bit like wood. However, it is a very stable and strong material.

High-quality, beautiful, famous designer item

Degelijk stevig mes valt goed in de hand ook voor de grotere handen erg prettig .

Heb dit mes gekocht na het zien van een Youtube-filmpje van Melissa Backwoods. Dat overkomt wel meer mensen, begrijp ik uit de andere reviews :-) 
De vormgeving van handvat en lemmet is erg mooi, al had ik liever een zwart handvat gehad. Wel is het lemmet net iets korter dan in de beschrijving is aangegeven (23,3 cm i.p.v. 23,5 totale lengte). De slijphoek van mijn exemplaar was ook zeker geen 19º maar meer richting de 30º (in ieder geval erg bot), dus ik heb er met de KME Sharpener een slijphoek van 20º van gemaakt. Hij is nu super scherp. Het mes gaat erg moeilijk open omdat de thumb stud veel te dicht op het handvat zit en je dus te weinig hefboom hebt om het lemmet lekker licht uit te laten klappen. 
En hopelijk gaat de pocket clip niet na verloop van tijd loszitten, want ik zie geen schroefje om hem aan te draaien (of je zou het hele mes moeten gaan demonteren).


Een prima tactisch zakmes dat alleen helaas wat bot in de doos zit maar dat was snel genoeg opgelost.
In principe een inklapbare Applegate gevechtsdolk dus goed nadenken wanneer je dit mes in de broekzak stopt want dit is geen Zwitsers zakmes en ik denk niet dat "een touwtje doorsnijden" onder aannemelijke aard en omstandigheden geschaard wordt als er vragen komen.

Uitstekende fit & finish. Leuk dat er een keer gebruikt gemaakt wordt van VG10 op een budget mes, Ook tof dat de pocket clip niet gewoon een goedkoop gebogen stuk staal is maar specifiek op dit mes ontworpen is. Al met al het aanschafbedrag meer dan waard
