The Buck Folding Skinner from the Opening Season series is the replacement for the very popular Buck 277. This new version offers once again a BOS-hardened S30V-steel blade, this time with a slight recurve. The knife is easy to open by the thumb stud or by the flipper and a flick of the wrist. The handle is sturdy and offers good grip, also for large hands. The grip parts are made of colourful rosewood with a steel plate on top. The deep-carry pocket clip allows you to carry the knife quite discretely in your pocket. Too big for your pocket? No worries because the knife comes with a leather belt sheath.

Mooi en groot zakmes dat zich met een hand makkelijk laat openen. Super scherp aangeleverd. Ondanks het formaat van het zakmes kun je het goed in je broekzak dragen mede door de pocket clip.

Un objet élégant et robuste, à la finition impeccable.

On apprécie l'ergonomie de son manche dont la forme remplit bien la main et sans arrête vive susceptible de devenir douloureuse à l'usage.

Les deux systèmes d'ouverture (une roue sous le pouce et un ergot sur le dos du manche) permettent une ouverture facile dans toutes les situations, d'autant que la charnière est parfaitement fluide sans pour autant ne souffrir d'aucun jeu. Une fois ouvert, l'ergot au dos du manche se transforme en une garde placée au niveau de l'index qui protège des dérapages, tandis que la roue de pouce offre un bon appui sur le dos de la lame. La conception asymétrique du manche facilite l'accès au linerlock pour le pouce (attention, couteau de droitier exclusivement!), de sorte que la fermeture se fait sans aucun problème.

Dans l'ensemble, cet outil est un vrai plaisir à manipuler.

Côté lame, l'acier S30V fait son travail et propose un tranchant durable en contrepartie d'un affutage plus technique, son émouture assez haute lui confère un bon pouvoir de pénétration malgré l'épaisseur de la lame (3mm) et le léger concave offre une esthétique plaisante (le fil lui-même reste en émouture plate en revanche, il s'agit d'un couteau d'extérieur et non pas d'un coupe-chou).

C'est donc un superbe outil qui fait parfaitement son travail et que je recommande à tous ceux qui sont prêts à y mettre le prix. A titre personnel, il fait partie des "top" de ma collection.
