This knife carries the name of the fearless warriors of ancient times, and for a reason! It is a powerful knife that thanks to the Tri-Ad lock makes sure it does not accidentally close. The shape of the blade ensures that the blade cuts from every angle. < br/> < br/> 
The Spartan does somewhat reminisce of the large fixed Kukri. The point is a little narrower so the Spartan can better pierce objects. The thumb-plate makes it possible to open the Spartan with one hand, for both for left and right-handed people. Also, it can be used to open the knife automatically when you take it out of your pocket. The plate stays behind the fabric of your pocket and pulls the blade from the knife. It takes a little practice, but it really works! < br/> < br/> 
An extra pocket clip included so the knife can be worn on the left and right side.

Dieses Messer hält was es verspricht. Sehr robuste Ausführung, sehr scharfe Klinge (wird bereits scharf geliefert).

Wird leider ohne Holster geliefert, welcher der Größe des Messers wegen nicht einfach zu bekommen ist. Original Kydex Holster müsste man z.B. in den USA bestellen.

Ich hatte vorher schon ein Spartan und war/bin total begeistert von der Vielseitigkeit des Messers. Ich habe das Plättchen zum einhändigen Öffnen entfernt und es ist seit Jahren mein EDK. Nun hatte ich es verloren. Drei Tage hielt ich den Entzug aus dann habe ich mir das Spartan neu bestellt. 

Obwohl ColdSteel den Klingenstahl gewechselt hat von AUS 8A hin zu CTS® BD1 erkenne ich nach den ersten Tagen keine Einschränkungen in meinem Gebrauch.

Het toeval wil dat ik de Cold Steel Spartan ongeveer tegelijk kon aanschaffen met een Kizer 5414A2; allebei groot en robuust en allebei in de aanbieding. Twee fantastische messen tegen een hele redelijke prijs. Ik vind die Kizer geweldig, maar....die Spartan...wat weer een andere categorie! Er staat een test van Cold Steel op YouTube waarbij ze folders 105 keer tegen een houten wand aangooien om te zien of zo'n mes - dat daar niet voor gemaakt is, een zakmes is GEEN werpmes - dit qua locking kan hebben. Die Spartan slaagt met vlag en wimpel en het is écht geen licht mesje. De Kizer is een liner lock, het mes komt recht vanuit de achterkant van het handvat, in het verlengde van het mes te staan. Dat is prima. Maar de Spartan is een back lock, waarbij een vergrendeling (vaak) halverwege het handvat in het verlengde van een mes komt te staan. Eén, het klinkt beter, zo'n droge klik van de back lock; twee de back lock is sterker dan een liner lock. Maar dat baseer ik op mijn huis-, tuin-, en keuken kennis van de schokabsorptie van rechte oppervlaktes. (Een korte plank is sterker dan een lange plank, als het van hetzelfde materiaal gemaakt is.)
Dan het staal van de Spartan: S35VN uit China van de Kizer, tegenover CTS(r)BD1 uit Taiwan. Kan ik daar iets zinnigs over zeggen? Nee. Welk mes is scherper uit de doos: verreweg de Spartan. En ook dat zou je niet verwachten.
Dan de vormgeving. Het blad heeft de - bescheiden - vorm van het Spartaanse zwaard; het handvat is zeer ergonomisch en biedt een goede bescherming van de vingers. Dat mag ook wel met zo'n stuk scherp gereedschap. 
Ik ben over het algemeen zeer onder de indruk van dit mes!

Good fit and finish. A really big and heavy knife. As a voluntary help I'm using the Spartan in the animal shelter; cutting food, bones and medicine (pills). Blade and lock are absolutely robust.  Minimal signs of heavy use on blade and handle. Perfect for the job - 100% recommendation.
