The **DiaSharp Bench Stone D8E** is an extra-fine diamond-coated sharpening stone. Diamond-coated sharpening stones quickly remove material and, thanks to the fine grain size of this sharpening stone, leave you with razor-sharp results. This DMT DiaSharp Bench Stone is the right size to sharpen anything from small pocket knives to large kitchen knives.

## DMT Bench stone D8 sharpening stones

The advantage of diamond sharpening stones is that they don't have to be lapped. For this DiaSharp stone the diamond particles were added to a 9 mm thick steel sheet. This guarantees the flatness of the sharpening stone and its weight ensures that it stays in place during use. 

## Information about the grain sizes of DMT sharpening stones.

The grain size of a diamond-coated stone and a water stone cannot easily be compared. This is because the construction and materials used are substantially different. With a water stone, the sharpening grains are incorporated into the stone. These grains are also released from the stone during use and become some kind of sharpening paste. With a diamond-coated stone, the diamonds are secured in the surface of the stone.

## How to use DMT D8 sharpening stones

You can use the DMT sharpening stones with or without water. The advantage of sharpening with water is that the stone is lubricated and the sharpening residue is removed. Never use oil, always water. It's also good to know that a diamond-coated sharpening stone needs to be pre-sharpened. A brand-new diamond sharpening stone removes quite a lot of material. Only after 5 to 10 knives does the stone have its final effect.

Een geweldig stuk gereedschap. Op de eerste plaats is het oppervlakte mooi groot, waardoor je het mes over een groot deel goed kan slijpen. Het materiaal voelt ook goed aan, is prettig zwaar zodat de kans op schuiven ook minder is. Het scherpen gaat snel, zeer snel. Maar Je moet in de gaten houden of je niet te veel materiaal van je snede afhaalt. Een aanrader.

Got 3 of these in coarse, fine and extra fine.
Good quality, absolutely flat, fast cutting and no mess (unlike my Japanese waterstones).

The great "multi buy" deal offered by Knivesandtools made them very affordable when bought together.

Na de coarse en fine platen te hebben gebruikt verwachte ik veel van deze plaat om mijn beitels echt vlijmscherp te krijgen. Helaas was dit niet het geval: na een paar halen over de plaat verschenen er strepen en voor mijn gevoel slijp ie op deze plaatsen minder goed...
