This **DiaSharp Bench stone D8C** is a coarse diamond-coated sharpening stone to sharpen blunt knives. Diamond-coated sharpening stones quickly remove material and, depending on the grain size sharpen your knives razor-sharp. This DMT DiaSharp Bench Stone is the right size to sharpen anything from small pocket knives to large kitchen knives.

The advantage of diamond sharpening stones is that they don't have to be lapped. For this DiaSharp stone the diamond particles were added to a 9 mm thick steel sheet. This guarantees the flatness of the sharpening stone and its weight ensures that it stays in place during use. 

## Information about the grain sizes of DMT sharpening stones.

The grain size of a diamond-coated stone and a water stone cannot easily be compared. This is because the construction and materials used are substantially different. With a water stone, the sharpening grains are incorporated into the stone. These grains are also released from the stone during use and become some kind of sharpening paste. With a diamond-coated stone, the diamonds are secured in the surface of the stone. 

## How to use DMT D8 sharpening stones

You can use the DMT sharpening stones with or without water. The advantage of sharpening with water is that the stone is lubricated and the sharpening residue is removed. Never use oil, always water. It's also good to know that a diamond-coated sharpening stone needs to be pre-sharpened. A brand-new diamond sharpening stone removes quite a lot of material. Only after 5 to 10 knives does the stone have its final effect.

I am returning it because it is not flat as expected, I have checked it with a Kinex Din 875-0 straight edge square and a 0.10 mm gauge slides underneath. For that quality it is not worth the price it costs.

De afwerking van de stalen body is niet optimaal. Het lijkt of er in de fabriek mee gegooid is. Aan de randen is er dan een beschadiging die er voor zorgt dat het oppervlak niet geheel vlak is. Voor ingebruikname moet dit dat eerst worden hersteld. Ik neem het voor lief. Als je eenmaal deze slijpmethode hebt gebruikt is er geen weg meer terug. Dit is een onverwoestbare manier om met de hand je houtbewerkingsgereedschap te slijpen.

De slijpplaat bevalt zeer goed! Dit is een goede plaat voor het begin van scherp gereedschap! Water is goed om het materiaal af te voeren en verder heb je alles zelf in de hand. Zeer tevreden en ik raad m zeker aan aan iedereen die scherp gereedschap wil hebben!
