The **Fenix PD40R** is a compact, rechargeable LED flashlight with a maximum light output of at least 3000 lumens. The flashlight retrieves its power from a rechargeable ARB-L26-4500P battery. With five light modes, an SOS mode and a stroboscope mode you will have the right amount of light no matter what circumstance you find yourself in. The Cree XHP70-LED in the PD40R has a very bright, wide beam. In addition, this beam is evenly distributed because of the orange-peel-reflector which makes this an incredibly versatile flashlight: from every-day-carry and outdoor use to, for instance, photography.


## Unparalleled light output


What immediately stands out is the maximum light output of at least 3000 lumens. You can reach this amount of lumens in the highest of the five modes. In this mode the PD40R has a maximum beam distance of 200 meters according to the ANSI norm. You can switch between the different light modes by using the side switches. The upper switch can be used to reach the SOS and the stroboscope mode. With the bottom switch you can switch between the five regular light modes. You will notice that when you turn the light off and on again that it will use the same light mode as the one you used when you turned it off. In addition, the lock-out function is incredibly practical: press down both switches for about three seconds and the flashlight will be ‘locked’. As such you don’t have to worry about accidentally turning it on while you are transporting it. If you want to use the light again all you have to do is press down both switches another three seconds.


The PD40R has been enhanced with a double security feature to prevent overheating. In the turbo mode the temperature will increase and you will definitely notice that on the surface. For this reason the light will automatically switch back to the high-mode after 1.5 minutes. The same also occurs when the light has reached a temperature of 65 degrees Celsius.

## Prevent deeply-discharged batteries
Are you not planning to use your flashlight for a while? In that case, it's best to unscrew the tailcap (the bottom end of the handle) a few turns. This will prevent your battery from becoming too deeply discharged, which can happen if the circuit of the battery stays in contact with the flashlight without being used or recharged in the meantime.  A deeply discharged battery cannot always be revived and recharged, which would be a shame!

Do you have a flashlight with a built-in battery? Then make sure to charge your flashlight at least once every 3-4 months, even when not in use. This prevents the battery from becoming too deeply discharged, and it's also good for the lifespan of your battery!
