The blade is ok . The handle is poor quality, arriving with fine scuffs and part of the inlay on the samurai figure missing. The finish give the appearance of a film of some sort having been removed from the handle. It looks secondhand rather than new.

Good blade and very sharp. My first Japanese knife and I'm very happy with it. I wouldn't use it for anything heavy though I've got other one's for that.

I bought 3 of these knives as last minute Christmas presents for my dad, bro and BF. They all said it was their favourite present even above (much) more expensive gifts...typical! My brother's and my boyfriend's friends (who don't know each other so totally independent) both Googled the history of these knives and the tradition of receiving one as a young boy in Japan and they loved the idea so much they are going to buy them themselves and I have of course recommended Knives and Tools who I found (after researching the net) sold these knives the cheapest I could find in the UK. I think I have started a new family tradition so will definitely shop here again next Christmas and in the meantime I am looking at individual kitchen knives for myself. Delivery was very quick and well packaged. Thanks very much for inspiring such a brilliant gift :) Kate
