The **Maserin Gourmet** is a light-weight and sleek gentleman’s knife, designed as a foldable steak knife. You might have experienced it before: great restaurant, delicious piece of steak, but terrible knives. With the Maserin Gourmet you will always have the right knife close to cut your steak. Designer Attilio Morotti has been able to combine the typical Italian lines with remarkable materials for the Gourmet. For instance, the handle is made from beautiful dark ebony wood. A special aspect on this knife is that the backspacer (the part in between the handles) is also made from this type of wood.


The blade of the Maserin Gourmet is made from Japanese AUS8 steel. A stainless type of steel which maintains its sharpness perfectly and can easily be sharpened. You open the knife with the front flipper, or simply by using two hands. The front flipper is the small part of steel which slightly protrudes from the handle when the knife is closed. You can use your thumb or index finger to open this knife and initially this could take some getting used to. When opened the knife is locked with the solid liner lock. The blade is enhanced with Teflon washers. Perfect because they enable the blade to move smoothly even if they are dry (without oil). So, for instance, if you find dirt in between the blade and the handle you can carefully flush it out with water. You do, however, need to carefully dry it afterwards! And, preferably, use a couple drops of oil. This pocket knife is made to cut your steak, or perhaps even an envelope, but definitely not meant for heavy use. Fortunately Maserin makes enough other knives to help you with that.


The Maserin Gourmet is delivered with a simple leather pouch.


Maserin creates great knives for great prices. True craftsmanship, something you can sometimes find traces of. It is simply a part of the charm of this stunning pocket knife.

Een prachtig herenmes in een mooi formaat. Komt in een etui waarvan de kwaliteit niet erg goed is. Niettemin doet dit niets af aan het mes zelf. 

Enige nadeel is dat bij mijn mes de rug iets boven de beide schalen uitkomt als het mes open is. Dat is minder netjes wat betreft afwerking. 
Ik heb Maserin daarvoor benaderd en het 1 regelig antwoord dat ze gaven was bewerken met een stuk schuurpapier. Onmogelijk natuurlijk omdat dit een kleurverschil zal veroorzaken en mogelijk de metale zijdelen kan beschadigen.

Dus wat betreft klanteservice bij Maserin moet je nergens op rekenen.

Niettemin zou ik dit mes meteen weer kopen als ik mijn huidige onverhoopt zou verliezen. 

Attention lors de l’utilisation en cuisine ou pour manger. Dès que les plaquettes en ébène sont mouillées, beaucoup de jeu se fait entre les platines et les plaquettes de par le gonflement du bois. 
C’est ballot pour ce type de couteau …

Plaquettes en bois très fine et acier d'entrée de gamme ne donnant pas une impression de robustesse, cependant, cela le rend léger et donc agréable en poche. Élégant, je ne regrette pas mon achat.
