With the 180/600 water stone, you bring the edge of your blunt knife back into shape. The 1000/3000 water stone is the logical next step to make your knives razor-sharp. In addition, this set contains whetstone aids, a stropping paddle, a stropping compound and a ceramic sharpening steel.

 ## Use the Skerper water stone

 Immerse the water stone in water for a few minutes before use, so that it will fill with water. This creates a layer of water that drains the grindings. Which ensures that you can quickly sharpen and increases the life of the stone. No pressure! The stone does all the work. With the including whetstone aids you always have the right grinding angle during sharpening.

 ## The Skerper Basic ceramic sharpening steel

 Use the Skerper Basic ceramic sharpening steel for the daily maintenance of your knives. This will give your knives just a bit more sharpness for daily use. The ceramic has a very fine grit and structure and takes a very small amount of steel. Precisely enough to remove the burrs and adjust a slightly used edge. Do you find it harder to cut a tomato? Stroke the knife a few times past the sharpening steel and it will go right through.

 Because the sharpening steel is thoroughly made of ceramic, it will last a lifetime. Do not drop it of course!

 ## Stropping for a polished edge

 With the Skerper Paddle Strop, you give the cutting tool a razor-sharp, polished edge. The strop is a lovely stropping paddle of serious size. You can make all kind of sharp edges even sharper: from pocket knives to chisels and from kitchen knives to gouges. Due to its size this strop is suitable for larger knives. This set includes two different compounds: a coarser and finer one. The coarser(grey) compound is ideal for removing the last sharpening marks from the rough sharpening. The red compound is finer and very suitable for polishing the edge.

Had some help choosing this when I rang up. Excellent sharpness and Sabatier knives better than new. 

As an amateur cook not sure I needed all the equipment, but the strop paddle is amazing producing a mirror finish at the edge. I haven't used the ceramic rod as I have a steel one. The angle guides are a bit pointless too. 4 stars overall as I felt I spent £20 more than what I needed to.
