Compact, affordable and expandable sharpening system for knives

The **Wicked Edge GO** is a compact, affordable and expandable sharpening system. It is based on the same principle as the normal Wicked Edge sharpening systems. The GO, however, has brought that principle back to the basics. Solely the knife clamp, the guiding rods with adjustable angle and a combination sharpening stone. All you need to end up with razor-sharp knives. As such the Wicked Edge GO comes with an amazing price!


Instead of a heavy and solid base made from stone or steel the base of the Wicked Edge Go is made from an aluminium profile. On top you attach the knife clamp with the included Allen wrench and slide the holders for the guiding rods back and forth. At the same time the base is designed as such that it can safely store a number of individual parts. Underneath there is room for two sharpening stones and on the side you can slide the guiding rods and the Allen wrench into the 
base.


The Wicked Edge GO comes with two combination sharpening stones with grains 200 and 600. These are American grain sizes and therefore slightly finer than you might be used to from, for instance, Japanese stones with the same number. The 200-side is great to pre-sharpen blunt knives. You will quickly restore the edge with this diamond sharpening stone. The 600-side hones the side until you have a razor-sharp knife.


Both guiding rods can easily be adjusted. Simply loosen the button and slide it through the profile. The Wicked Edge GO comes with a waterproof marker to make sure you can mark the edge to find the right angle.


The main advantage of the Wicked Edge Go is that it comes with only these two sharpening stones, but that you can easily expand this sharpening system with other stones from the Wicked Edge range. As a result you can even use the Wicked Edge GO to end up with a real *mirror polish*.


The Wicked Edge GO comes with a cast iron clamp. With it you can attach the GO to a table or workstation to make sure it will always stay in place. The Wicked Edge GO has also recessed screw holes so you can permanently screw it to your work bench when you don’t need it on the ‘go’.


The Wicked Edge GO comes with a nylon carrier bag that has enough room to store everything you might possible need to sharpen your knives. Take it with you in your caravan or camper or simply use it at home: you will decide where you use this amazing system!

Een heel goed slijpsysteem voor een beginnend messenslijper. Waarschijnlijk zal ik er in de toekomst wel een paar fijnere slijpstenen bijkopen, maar de twee geleverde stenen hebben me een hele verzameling vlijmscherpe messen in de keuken opgeleverd. Zeker waar voor je geld, al kan het nog veel beter.....

Na jaren een Lansky slijpsetje te hebben gebruikt, nu deze aangeschaft al een paar weken kunnen proberen. Mooie constante slijphoek. Degelijke constructie. Doet wat hij moet doen. Nadelen, de prijs. Het is nogal een investering. Maar kwaliteit is goed en hij gaat vast erg lang mee. De meegeleverde slijpsteentjes zijn nogal grof. Ik heb er 600 / 800 bij besteld maar zelfs die vind ik nog aan de grove kant. 1200 is wellicht beter voor het bijhouden van je mes. Maar ook deze zijn nogal prijzig. De opberg tas is op zich prima, en in het zakje met rits waar het alu frame in gaat, past ook nog een setje extra steentjes. Van mij hadden ze wel wat meer extra opberg mogelijkheden in de tas mogen maken. Voor bv 2 sets slijpsteentjes en een strop oid. Het slijpen maakt trouwens een irritant geluid als de steen over de geleider schuift. Een druppeltje olie helpt. Al met al een mooie set, mooi afgewerkt en werkt prettig, maar niet goedkoop.

Permet d'avoir un très bon tranchant. Les pierres en grain 200 sont assez abrasives pour reprendre un angle, la pierre 600 donne un bon tranchant mais pas miroir. J'ai complété l'ensemble par des pierres 800 et 1000. 
Le système est précis et facile d'utilisation. Par contre avec certains modèles de couteaux comme le paramilitary 2 de spyderco, l'affûtage du fil à la base de la lame est impossible sur quelques millimètres.

Ich habe mir das Wicked Edge Go Schleifsystem bestellt um meine Kochmesser damit zu schleifen.

Das System ist sehr gut und nach kurzer Einarbeitung kann man definitiv sehr saubere und sehr scharfe Ergebnisse erzielen. Der Preis ist recht hoch, aber alle Teile sind sehr hochwertig in Material und Verarbeitung und machen durchaus den Eindruck, dass sie sehr lange halten werden. Ich habe mir dazu noch die Schleifriegel mit Körnung 1200/1600 gekauft. Mit dieser Kombination kann man auf jedenfall seine Messer warten, bis zu einem gewissen Grad reparieren und definitiv sehr scharf schleifen.
Ich verwende auch den Angle Cube, da ich weichere Messer für härtere Lebensmittel mit größerem Winkel schleife (20° +, da funktioniert von Hand der Daumen als Führung nicht mehr, freihand auf japanischen Schleifsteinen). Bei härteren Messern für weiche Lebensmittel (12-14°, halbe Daumenbreite) ersparen die Wicked Edge Systeme den "blutigen Daumen" den man sich beim setzen des Schleifwinkels auf zunächst gröberen japanischen Schleifsteinen holen kann.
Lange Küchenmesser wie zB Gyutos mit 18cm und mehr haben prinzipbedingt bei diesem System natürlich Abweichungen in der Schliffbreite am Schaft und der Spitze. Hier ist es hilfreich den Sweetspot in der Position zu finden, um diesen Effekt zu minimieren. Es gibt ein tolles Youtube Video wo das erklärt wird:
