Shopping for a knife set that’s sharp in every way?

Wüsthof has great value for money kitchen knives on the market with the Gourmet series. Of course at the high level of the quality you have come to expect from Wüsthof. The blade is laser-cut from a single piece of steel (chrome-molybdenum-vanadium). The polypropylene handle is attached to the blade with rivets and the blade runs smoothly into the handle. The result is a knife that looks very similar to the knives from the Wüsthof Classic series. The production method makes the Gourmet knives considerably cheaper. Also the weight is considerably lower, which many people feel is a huge advantage. The Gourmet series is very comprehensive so you can put together the knife set exactly to your liking.   
  


The chrome-molybdenum-vanadium steel is easy to sharpen and remains sharp for a long amount of time. Although these kitchen knives can go into the dishwasher, we always advise to wash them by hand.  
  
 
 
The knife sharpener has two steps and works safe and convenient. The first step (carbide, for coarse grinding) is used for sharpening knives that are really dull. The second step (ceramic for fine grinding) is used for polishing the edge of the blade. The ceramic sharpening method can also be used for regular maintenance.

Great knife bought for my son in law as he is a chef and he loves it

Ik heb al 20 jaar een Zwilling Four Star koksmes. Goed scherp, degelijk gesmeed maar vrij zwaar voor mijn doen (ik ben geen prof) en een vrij dik lemmet. Ik gebruik hem vooral voor zwaar werk: koolrabi en knolraap snijden, kipkarkas snijden. Tegenwoordig zijn er ook prima gestanste (of bij Wusthof, lasergesneden) messen. De Victorinox krijgt b.v. goede recenties. Ik vond bij Wusthof ook zo'n serie: de Gourmet. Prima kwaliteit, lekker licht en vooral dunner dan mijn Four Star. Dat snijdt toch wel een stuk fijner.
Maar, een stevige prijs voor het 20cm koksmes. Tot mijn verbazing (en opluchting) stond even verderop een set met hetzelfde mes plus een officemes en een prima slijper voor 11 EUR goedkoper dan het enkele mes. Dus dat besteld en wat een goede koop: beide messen haarscherp uit de doos en snijden als een zonnetje. De slijper is ook niet slecht met een metalen en een keramisch wieltje.
De Four Star houd ik er zeker bij voor het zwaardere werk.

Please note that knives are almost always sharpened by hand, even in factories. This value is therefore only an indication of a single tool measured by us.
