## MagnaCut steel blade

Benchmade started 2020 well with the release of the new Bugout 535BK-2 and Bailout 537GY-1. Not surprising considering the popularity of both knives. The surprising thing, however, was the choice of material. Benchmade didn't simply change the colour. They did a lot more than that! They used a completely new material for the handle! Who would have thought? We also see cool new models such as the Tengu, designed by Jared Oeser, and the new Mini Bugouts. ## Benchmade Bugout 535BK-2 DLC CF-Elite


With the new [Bugout 535BK-2](kato://product/BE535BK-2) the wish of many Benchmade fans is fulfilled: a completely black Bugout without colour accents. Instead of the matt, black-grey coating we see on the Bugout 535GRY-1 Benchmade used a smoother black DLC coating. The steel remained the same: S30V steel. On this Bugout we also find the new handle material: CF-Elite, instead of grivory. A handle material that is made from polymer reinforced with carbon fibre. A rock-solid material that was originally used in the car and aviation industry. CF-Elite is no less than 50% more solid than grivory and weighs less. Yes, you read it right. It weighs even less.

## So what's new?

The blade is still 6.35 mm thick and runs throughout the entire handle. However, the BK72's blade is made from CPM S35VN steel instead of the standard 1095 carbon steel. CPM S35VN has been a fixture in the knife world for many years. It is incredibly stainless, retains its sharpness well and is easy to sharpen. A great type of steel that is still very much appreciated among knife makers after all these years. The comfortable handle has also seen a change; the scales are made from black micarta, a composite material from linen and synthetic resin. It’s nicely lightweight and very grippy, even in wet circumstances. Quite an upgrade from the standard plastic scales!

The KA-BAR is available in two versions:

* The first version 'KABK72' features a cool, stonewashed blade finish, black micarta scales and even the hardware features the tough-looking stonewashed finish.

## About the new ANV M25

The new ANV M25 is an addition to the ANV M-collection (military collection). A compact fixed knife designed in cooperation with the 25th Anti-Aircraft Missile Regiment from the Czech army. The 3.5 mm thin blade, made from Sleipner steel, is cryo-hardened and enhanced with a DLC coating.

A great feature is the fact that the choil in the blade also functions as a firesteel notch. In addition, the spines of the handle and blade are enhanced with cut-outs that have the exact scale of a 1:25 000 map. Awesome because during an emergency situation it enables you to measure the distance on a map in distances of 200m, 1 km and 5 km. The back of the handle is enhanced with a tool to secure a RBS rocket or to open a beer. It all comes down to which of the two you do more often.

## About the new Benchmade Narrows

Last year we first learned all about the [Benchmade Narrows](kato://product/BE748). The thinnest knife in the Benchmade collection. We are glad to announce the brand added a new version of this amazing, lightweight pocket knife! The new Benchmade Narrows 748BK-01 is enhanced with a matt-black titanium handle and a blade made from Böhler M390 steel with a polished black DLC coating. The pivot screw and the pocket clip also contain this DLC coating.

The new Benchmade Narrows is launched in March. We will, of course, try to add this knife to our website as quickly as possible.
