The **Bark River Bravo 2** was designed for (para)military use, specifically for the U.S. Marine Corps. Soon, however, it became clear that this knife was capable of a whole lot more. Today the Bravo 1 is beloved among bushcraft enthusiasts and hunters. It is solidly constructed, with enough blade thickness for heavy-duty tasks. Perfect for woodworking, gutting game and many other outdoor tasks. This is the longer brother of the original Bravo 1. The blade of the 2 is 18 cm long. This is the only difference - the position of the thumb ramp and the handle are the same.

On the spine of the blade you'll find the 'ramp', which is a small protrusion with serrations on one side. Intuitively the ramp appears to be a little too far back for natural placement of the thumb. However, you're meant to place your thumb just in front of the ramp. This makes it easier to apply force during tasks that require greater precision. The serrated edge of the ramp is shaped to make it really easy to produce sparks with a firesteel.

The blade is made from CPM 3V steel, a tool steel that is known for its exceptional strength. It is very hard to break, and also retains its sharpness well. You do, however, need to be careful with moisture and acids: CPM 3V is not completely stainless. Make sure to clean the knife after use and occasionally apply a drop of oil to keep it in great shape. The edge has a convex grind that can be maintained by [stropping](/en/ct/stropping.htm) it.

The handle is made of canvas micarta, which is a strong and lightweight material made from linen and synthetic resin. It feels comfortable in hand, even in wet or cold conditions.

The Bark River Bravo 2 comes with a leather belt sheath. This sheath can also be worn horizontally.

Bark River Knives makes all of its knives almost entirely by hand. This means that each knife is unique. Especially when working with natural materials, a knife may differ from the photos. The knife you receive may therefore be subtly different from the product photos. The model and type of material, however, will always be the same.

Coltello un po’ snobbato dagli amanti del marchio ma che per me è nettamente superiore di altri modelli della casa americana.
Ben fatto e bello massiccio, adatto a tutti i compiti sia quelli leggeri o di fino, sia quelli più gravosi.
Attenti al filo, taglia come un rasoio ma rischia di creare cippature se impiegato in maniera gravosa.
Il fodero è ben fatto ma molto semplice, una volta questo modello era fornito di un fodero migliore( a mio parere)
Detto ciò sono soddisfatto e lo riacquisterei.
