This Böker Pure CPM five-piece knife set was designed by Danish knife maker Jens Ansø. He is mostly known in the pocket knife world, but has now also started focusing on top-quality kitchen knives in cooperation with Böker. For this knife the Dane became inspired by the functional and modern Bauhaus style. This style represents simplicity, minimalism and ease of use. That is also why Böker called this collection 'Pure'.
Extra hardened steel
The blade is made from CPM-154 steel, also known as powder metallurgical steel. To end up with this type of steel 154-CM was melted and cooled down. Under melting temperature, the resulting steel powder is then compressed again. As a result the carbide concentration in the steel has increased. As such your steel will become harder as well. The result is that the knife will retain its sharpness longer.
Oak wood handles
The scales are made from 'Bergische Eiche', regional German oak. Only three inconspicuous stainless steel rivets were added to the unprocessed wooden handle. The austere but stylish handle adds to the pure feeling Ansø and Böker want to highlight with this knife set.
This kitchen knife set is comprised of five parts. In addition to the heavy oak wood knife block on a stainless steel base, you receive four different kitchen knives. For the coarser cutting tasks you can choose between a long and razor-sharp chef's knife, or the more compact Santoku. You can also use this set for the more detailed tasks. It comes with a utility knife, which is shorter and narrower than the Santoku. The set is also comprised of a peeling knife with a sharp tip, to finely peel vegetables, fruit and potatoes.
Finally: the knife block is magnetic. As such you can stick your knives to it. Not only very practical, it also looks very stylish in your kitchen!
