The Recon Scout is the popular all-rounder by Cold Steel. Can be used for the heavier survival/tactical use, no job is too heavy for this knife. Because of the Japanese SK-5 high carbon steel and the 4 mm thick blade, this knife excels in the heavier chop and carving work. The handle gives good grip in all conditions and is made of sturdy Kray-Ex ™. This survival knife has a sophisticated design and a very good balance.

Stevig kampmes, waar je gerust wat mee kan hakken.
Coating is niet van de beste, maar voor de rest een haal degelijk mes.
Wel een serieus gewicht om aan de riem te dragen als je op tocht gaat.

Mes voldoet bijna aan wat ik er van verwachte. Na een kleine aanpassing is dit mes nu precies zoals ik hem hebben wil. De levering en het contact hierover is zoals altijd weer geweldig geweest. De volgende messen staan al weer in bestelling bij Knives and Tools.

Een echte survivalmes... een bikkel van een mes....  niet voor subtiel werk.
Splijt hout als een bijl maar is ook in te zetten bij het ontweiden van "groter" wild.
Op langere reizen zeker in de rugzak... een alles kunner!


De scherpte van het mes valt erg tegen. Hout hakken met het mes is erg oncomfortabel door het materiaal van het handvat (blaren al na enkelen minuten werk). Het filmpje dat je bij de advertentie is een totale fantasie, zo scherp is dat mes bij levering totaal niet en zal het misschien wel kunnen worden na een speciale slijpbeurt met speciale technieken. Jammer, mijn verwachtingen waren hooggespannen na het zien van de demonstratie film (ook al weet ik echt wel dat het reclame is, maar toch!!!!)
