The Karesuando Överlevnad (Survival knife) is a typical Scandinavian bushcrafting knife. The handle of curly birch wood is rubbed with oil so it can better stand the elements. They have added a ring or reindeer antler which looks really beautiful. The ergonomic shape of the handle makes this knife really comfortable to use. The 12c27-Sandvik steel blade has a scandi-grind, a typical Scandinavian way of sharpening which makes the edge very strong and easy to sharpen. The back of the blade is also sharpened so it becomes easier to use a firesteel. The blade and handle are separated by a gorgeous brass bolster.
The knife comes in a traditional leather belt sheath with plastic insert. The side of the sheath has a holder that contains a firesteel with a handle of reindeer antler. They have also added a small diamond sharpening stone with a coarse and a fine side.

What a disappointment this knife is . The spine appears to have been sharpened for use with the fire steel using an angle grinder or similar tool , very badly . The grind is well off centre of the knife , and very poorly done on on side in particular curving in an arc along its length . Despite trying to ring , and leaving an email to try and return i have had no response from the seller maybe that could be to do with the fact that even though i ordered this knife from the uk website it was posted from Germany also be aware that as the box is damaged the website states they withhold £50 from the original cost . Last time i will use Knives and tools.
