The **Ontario Shikra 8599** is a cool, light-weight EDC knife. Amazing for all daily tasks. Its price is also amazing: the Ontario Shikra has an amazing price-quality ratio. It will be hard to find more value for money anywhere else.

 The pointed blade has a nice, thin grind. As such the Shikra is amazing to use! You notice it when peeling an apple, for instance. The skins will fly off the apple! The blade is made from Japanese AUS8 steel. This is a stainless type of steel that is easy to sharpen razor-sharp.

 You quickly open the Ontario Knives Shikra with the flipper. You do so with one hand, to make sure you can always reach your knife. Even when you only have one hand free. When opened the blade is locked by a framelock. Titanium framelocks sometimes tend to move a bit stiffly for a long time. That is why Ontario enhanced the lockbar with a steel insert. Great because it means the lock will last even longer. Great!

 The presentation side of the handle is made from micarta. A light-weight composite material made from canvas and synthetic resin. Offers enough grip and is also strong. In addition, it feels great in hand. The lockside is made from titanium.

Wie üblich bei k&t schnell versandt (nachdem der Hersteller ab und zu mal Lieferzeiten hatte). 
Das Messer ist für die Größe wunderbar leicht und schreit geradezu danach, unauffälliger täglicher Begleiter zu werden (und zu bleiben). Ich mag auch den leicht „abgeschabten“ Look, wo die unvermeidlichen Gebrauchsspuren auch nicht weiter auffallen oder stören. 
Der Flipper verlangt etwas Kraft, öffnet aber dank kugelgelagerter Klinge zackig; der Linerlock arretiert zuverlässig – nur beim Lösen kratzt es etwas. Da kann man mit etwas Schleifpaste und Öl nachhelfen. 
Die Schnitthaltigkeit des verwendeten AUS-8-Stahls gehört jetzt nicht zur Top-Liga – dafür ist das Messerchen mit ein paar Strichen zwischendurch über den Riemen (oder alle paar Wochen den Wicked Edge) wieder einsatzbereit. 
Klasse auch die Möglichkeit, den Clip einfach umschrauben zu können, um es mit der Spitze nach unten in der Hosentasche mitzuführen. 
Apropos Spitze: die verschwindet im eingeklappten Zustand nicht allzu tief in den Griffschalen – da kann man schon mal einen Kratzer abbekommen. 
Alles in allem (für den Preis) ein gutes Messer für jeden Tag, das garantiert nicht in der Vitrine verstaubt, weil‘s zu teuer und zu schade zum Arbeiten ist …
