The Pohl Force Hornet XL is a unique fixed knife. The blade shape is quite traditional but the handle makes it really special. It has finger grooves and a point that sticks out on the back. The finger grooves ensure your hand stays fixed to the knife at all times, even with piercing motions. 




The knife comes in a Kydex-sheath with a Tek-Lok-Clip. It’s wrapped in a luxurious Pohl Force pouch.

De hornet presenteert zich als een opvallend ontworpen survival- neck-knife. En dat is het ook...
De eerste reactie van mijn vrouw toen ik het uitpakte: "Oh, wat een leuk baby-knife!"
Maar deze baby is wèl een serieus mes. Voor mij moet een survival mes hout snijden en ik moet ermee kunnen koken (hoe moet ik anders overleven als ik geen voedsel kan bereiden?) en dat kan met de hornet. Lekker scherp, stevig snijvlak. Ribbels op de juiste plek om goed te kunnen sturen. Snijden van takken en takjes is geen probleem. Kipschotel bereid, vlees, tomaten, uien, prei en champignons kunnen snijden. Kort lemmet, maar voldoende. In sheath in broekzak gedragen, eind van dag nauwelijks in de gaten dat ik hem bij me heb. Dat is een plus. Bijbehorend clip om asn de riem te bevestigen is een beetje onhandig. Ik zoek nog naar de goede positie. Als neck-knife of los in de broekzak (sheath!) goed te doen.
Nadeel: bijzondere greep beperkt de mogelijkheden om mes te hanteren. De voorgevormde gaten bepalen waar je vingers zijn. Een ice-pick greep is niet te doen (niet nodig ook). 
Let wel op de maat. Ik draag handschoenen maat M en kan dit mes goed hanteren maar kan me voorstellen dat iemand met grotere handen problemen kan ondervinden.
Concluderend: een mooi design, degelijk bruikbaar mes voor allerhande toepassingen. Vrouwen vinden het een leuk ding, dus het komt niet bedreigend over... Duidelijk géén tactical knife. Maar wel eentje die je van pas komt als het nodig is zonder dat je je gezelschap van "burgers" de stuipen op het lijf jaagt.
