The set consists of 2 guide rails. The big one is for knives with a larger blade, while the small one is used on smaller knives. This provides an optimal sharpening angle. The sharpening angle for this product is approximately 17º degrees. This depends on the height and thickness of the blade.

This is my first attempt at sharpening. Good angles but as a newby I have worn down the shoulder of the guide, thus changing the sharpening angle, slightly. Don't feel confident that after using the guide I will be able to hold the blade at the right angle. I bought one of the angle-holding sharpening systems after this, could have saved £40 for the stone and £10 for the guide. Would still like to build one myself that is more exact and rigid.
