The **TOPS El Chete** is the embodiment of destruction. This machete is built to chop wood. As soon as you pick up El Chete you know immediately this is a serious knife. Its weight makes it an excellent chopping knife. The balance is on the blade so you can put a lot of power.

 The blade of the TOPS El Chete is made of 1095 carbon steel. At the cutting edge, it has a Rockwell hardness of 56-58HRC. Along the spine(of the blade) this is much lower. This allows you to combine the harder cutting edge for maintaining sharpness with the tougher back that absorbs the blows. You can see the course from hard to soft on the side of the blade in the transition from light grey to dark grey. 1095 steel is therefore excellent for absorbing the blows and stress of chopping. Also the cutting edge is easy to sharpen. You have to be aware of corrosion. 1095 carbon steel is not stainless. So after use, just a neat cleaning and the occasional oil does wonder.

 The blade of such a large and solid knife must be perfect. The handhold is in fact super important when you exert so much force on a piece of the cutting tool. Leo Espinoza, designer and boss of TOPS Knives, has thought about this well. The micarta handle offers excellent grip even in wet conditions or with gloves. The large finger groove in the handle ensures that you will always have enough control over the knife. There are also cord eyes to attach a wrist cord.

 To carry El Chete with you a beautifl Kydex sheath is included. A snap button ensure that the knife neatly stays in place. The sheath is enhanced with a dangler belt-loop. A construction with a steel ring and a leather loop that reduces your freedom of movement less.

Wat... Een... Beest van een machete!
gemaakt voor absolute vernietiging.
Het heeft zeker een hoge wow-factor
De kydex schede met drukknop was even stroef en wennen. 
Door de licht boog van het snijvlak is het ook makkelijk te slijpen. 
De micarta handvat word inderdaad een beetje slijmerig als het nat is, maar het behoud wel een goede grip.
Het handvat is misschien een beetje te klein voor mij.
(ik draag XL handschoenen)
Daarom houd ik het vast met de wijsvinger in de grote fingerhole (net als op de foto) en dan gaat het perfect.
Al bij al een geweldig TOP(S) product!

Mit meiner "billig" Machete, habe ich mir beim entasten von der Eibe, Teile aus der Klinge geschlagen.
Da ich mich aber an die Gartenarbeit mit der Machete gewöhnt hatte, wollte ich wieder eine haben. Meine Wahl fiel nach langem Suchen auf die "El Chete". Ich hatte mich einfach sie verliebt.
Gerade weil sie gut zum hacken geeignet sein sollte.
Auch wenn der Preis das 10-fache war, zu der (billig) Machte. 
"You get what you pay for".
Also wieder zurück mit der El Chete zur Eibe ... 
WOW! Das ging alles wie Butte! So gut, hätte ich das nicht erwartet. Einfach hervorragend. Das Messer werde ich an spätere Generationen  vererben können. ❤️
Klare Kaufempfehlung für jeden der ein großes Messer zum Hacken sucht. Das Gewicht macht mir nichts aus, muss aber ggf. für schwächere Hände / Arme berückschtigt werden.
Auf der anderen Seite hilft einem das Gewicht auch, dass die Klinge gut ins Holz beisst.
