TOPS Fieldcraft Folder bushcraft pocket knife FCF-01, Leo Espinoza design
The TOPS Fieldcraft Folder is a pocket knife based on the popular TOPS BOB Fieldcraft bushcraft knife. This is a very large pocket knife for heavy use. In terms of shape and ergonomics, this knife looks a lot like its fixed brother. The only discernible difference is the fact that you can close this knife.
The blade is made from 1095 carbon steel, This is a very strong steel that is easy to sharpen. It's not totally stainless, but a large part of the blade has been treated with a Cerakote coating. This protects that part of the blade against rust and stains caused by acid and salt.
The handle is made from micarta. It's comfortable in hand, and super strong. A small indentation has been made on both sides. This can be used to guide the standing stick in a bow drill.
You can open this pocket knife with one hand. The thumb hole offers just enough grip for this. When opened, the blade is locked in place by a solid liner lock. The liner is very thick and therefore very strong. Nevertheless, TOPS does emphasise that this knife is not as strong as its fixed brother. This knife is therefore not suitable for heavy-duty tasks such as batoning.
So you can carry this large pocket knife with you, it comes with a sturdy leather belt sheath.
