The **KA-BAR 1217 USMC** is a legendary fixed knife. In 1942 this knife was used by the United States Marine Corps as a standard fighting knife for the marines. Ever since this knife is a part of the standard equipment of many soldiers. The knife is big and feels very strong. The handle is enhanced with a knife guard to make sure you will never end up on the razor-sharp edge during heavy-duty use. The blade is made from 1095-carbon steel. This steel, however, is not corrosion-resistant. Fortunately the blade is enhanced with a black coating to make sure maintenance is a lot easier. The handle is made from stacked leather rings. It feels comfortable in hand, even in the freezing cold. 

## KA-BAR 1217: living legend

During the 70 years that the KA-BAR 1217 has been around it became a real living legend. This knife copied often and many renowned manufacturers produced a version of this model. As such KA-BAR almost became a generic name for this amazing knife. You should, however, never forget that there is only one original: the KA-BAR 1217, made by KA-BAR in New York.

Ein toller Klassiker, welcher zwar unter das Führungsverbot fällt, mit dem das Arbeiten aber viel Spaß macht. Es ist gut verarbeitet und steckt daher auch gröbere Arbeiten gut weg.
Nachdem ich mein erstes 1217 vor langer Zeit wieder verkauft hatte, habe ich hier für einen sehr guten Preis ein weiters Mal zugeschlagen und diesmal bleibt das Messer auch bei mir.
