This stone gives you excellent feedback, it is fast, and it is essential as a first stone for sharpening any heavily blunted knife. It is also very durable. It serves as a great starting whetstone before going to a 1000-2000 grit range. I simply love when a knife "calls for this stone". :)

I bought this stone to take the worst off the really dinged up chisels a friend had asked me to sharpen for him, I already have a double sided 1000 & 6000. This did the job really well, with the other stones put a razor edge on them, God help him if he uses them to open paint cans again !
