Reviews for Naniwa Specialty Stone, SP-450, grit: 5000

Top quality stone.

I bought the 1000, 3000, and the 5000 specialty stones, for sharpening plane blades, chisels and the occasional knife, my first impressions are very positive. The stones are nice and flat, they look and feel well made, but most importantly they do a fantastic job. The first plane blade I sharpened had me sold, it did the job with ease and left the blade as sharp as it's ever been (I finished it off on a leather strop). I think the main thing to remember is that your stones are an investment, one that will depend on how often you need to sharpen your tools and how many you have, if the answer is a lot, then you might want to consider the pro stones, but for me the specialtys will probably last me a very long time and I plan on adding a 400 grit stone and obviously a levelling stone in the near future too on the strength of my original puchase.
