The Bark River Classic Clip Point Hunter is Bark River's interpretation of the famous drop point knives made by Bob Loveless, but with a more pointed clip point blade. A perfect hunting knife, according to many people. The size is the same, it's only the grind that has drastically changed - it has a convex grind, as we've come to expect from Bark River. The result is a stronger but still razor-sharp edge. The steel finger guard (crop) makes sure your finger doesn't slip and end up near the cutting edge. The handle is ergonomically shaped. It has curves wherever necessary and flat parts that your fingers can comfortably rest on in different positions.
The blade is made from CPM 3V steel, a tool steel that is known for its exceptional strength. It is very hard to break, and also retains its sharpness well. You do, however, need to be careful with moisture and acids: CPM 3V is not completely stainless. Make sure to clean it after use and occasionally apply a drop of oil to keep this knife in great shape. The edge has a convex grind that can be maintained by stropping it.
The handle is made from Makassar Ebony. This specific version is named after the Makassar Harbour in Indonesia, which is where most Macassar Ebony comes from. This type of wood is very hard, has a dense structure and a wonderful pattern. You can really see the veins. Ebony is an elegant wood that gives this knife a luxurious look and feel.
The Bark River Classic Clip Point Hunter comes with a leather belt sheath. You can carry it either upright (belt width up to 5.5 cm) or diagonally (belt width up to 6.0 cm).
Bark River Knives makes all of its knives almost entirely by hand. This means that each knife is unique. Especially when working with natural materials, a knife may differ from the photos. Therefore the knife you receive might be subtly different from the product photos. The model and type of material, however, will always be the same.
