The Bark River Fox River is a relatively lightweight hunting knife. The original Fox River has been one of Bark River's most popular hunting knives for years. Its round belly and slightly curved blade make it the perfect knife for gutting game. The handle feels great in hand. You have a lot of control over the blade, and plenty of grip even when using it for a long time. The Bark River Fox River is therefore not only great for hunting purposes, it can also serve as a light bushcraft knife.
The blade is made from CPM 3V steel, a tool steel that is known for its exceptional strength. It is very hard to break, and also retains its sharpness well. You do, however, need to be careful with moisture and acids: CPM 3V is not completely stainless. Make sure to clean it after use and occasionally apply a drop of oil to keep this knife in great shape. The edge has a convex grind that can be maintained by stropping it.
The handle is made of canvas micarta, which is a strong and lightweight material made from linen and synthetic resin. It feels comfortable in hand, even in wet or cold conditions.
This is the “No loop” version. That means that the protruding lanyard hole at the end of the handle is missing.
The Bark River Fox River comes with a leather belt sheath. You can carry it either upright (belt width up to 5.5 cm) or diagonally (belt width up to 6.0 cm). The sheath also has a loop for a firesteel (max. diameter ~6.0 mm).
Bark River Knives makes all of its knives almost entirely by hand. This means that each knife is unique. Especially when working with natural materials, a knife may differ from the photos. Therefore the knife you receive might be subtly different from the product photos. The model and type of material, however, will always be the same.
