The Bark River Fox River II LT is a relatively light-weight hunting knife. The original Fox River has been one of the most popular Bark River hunting knives for years. This is the Fox River II: the big brother. On top this is the LT version. LT stands for Lite. This is the light-weight version of this amazing knife. Because the blade is also a little thinner this knife is absolutely amazing to work with. A real slicer. Not only perfect for hunting purposes, but also as a light bushcraft knife.
The blade is made from CPM 3CV-steel. A tool steel that is known for its exceptional strength. As such it won't break and will retain its sharpness well. You do, however, need to be careful with moisture and acids: CPM 3V is not completely stainless. So clean it after use and occasionally add a drop of oil to keep this knife in great shape. The edge has been enhanced with a convex grind which you can maintain by stropping it.
The handle is made from canvas micarta. A strong and light-weight material, made from linen and synthetic resin. Feels comfortable in hand, even in wet or cold circumstances. Red liners were placed in between the scales and the tang. A very nice detail which is in great contrast with the rest of the knife.
The Bark River Fox River II LT comes with a leather belt sheath. You can carry it both straight (belt width up to 5.5 cm) and diagonally (belt width up to 6.0 cm). The sheath also has a loop for a firesteel (max. diameter ~6.0 mm).
Bark River makes all of its knives almost completely by hand. As such each knife is unique. Especially when working with natural materials a knife can differ from the photographs. The knife you receive can therefore be subtly different from the product photos. The model and type of material, however, will always be the same.
