The CRKT Daktyl is a unique pocket knife, designed by Tom Hitchcock. That is one of the few folding knives that opens sideways. People are often surprised when they see this knife for the first time.
With the special detente you push apart the frame a little. As a result the blade can rotate freely. Once opened the frame will ‘click’ around the blade. This lock is rock-solid.
The great thing about the Daktyl is that that special detente also has a type of secondary lock. With it you prevent unnecessary closing, but also unnecessary opening. To make sure you pull out the detente a little when the knife is closed.
With the CRKT Daktyl everything (literally) rotates around the large ring in the middle. Because this isn’t really a pocket knife for in your pocket Hitchcock has turned this ring into a snap hook. With it you attach it to your keychain or belt loop.
The CRKT Daktyl is a knife that should definitely be a part of any knife enthusiast’s collection.
