The **CRKT Halfachance** is a parang-style machete, designed by Ken Onion. A large machete you can rely on. Onion lives on Hawaii and knows what you need in the jungle. It is the Halfachance.



The CRKT Halfachance has a relatively thick blade made from 65Mn steel. This is a great type of steel for machetes such as this. Tough, won't break and is easy to sharpen. For enough control the Halfachance is enhanced with a comfortable handle. With a core made from polypropylene and a thermoplastic 'overmould'. As such the handle feels a little like rubber. Great when the handle is wet.



You can carry the CRKT Halfachance in the included nylon sheath. Because of the cleverly developed belt loop you can carry it close to your belt, or you can remove it to function as a dangler.

Als gepassioneerd buitenliefhebber was ik op zoek naar een betrouwbare machete die zowel duurzaam als veelzijdig was. Mijn zoektocht bracht me bij deze machete.

Het Ken Onion-design is direct herkenbaar in de vormgeving en het ergonomische handvat, wat het gebruik van de machete comfortabel maakt, zelfs bij langdurig snijwerk. Het lemmet, vervaardigd uit hoogwaardig roestvrij staal, ziet er supercool uit en behoudt tegelijkertijd zijn scherpte, zelfs na intensief gebruik.

Wat deze machete onderscheidt, is zijn veelzijdigheid. Of ik nu bezig ben met het snoeien van takken tijdens het kamperen of het bewerken van vegetatie op mijn terrein, de machete heeft me nooit teleurgesteld. De kwaliteit van de constructie en het doordachte ontwerp maken het tot een waardevolle aanvulling. Ook op campertrips door Zweden neem ik hem graag mee. 

Besteld voor het snoeiwerk van takken die te dik zijn voor de kleine snoeischaar en op plaatsen zitten waar ik met de lange snoeischaar de armen niet ver genoeg uit elkaar krijg. Met deze machete gaat het prima. Vlijmscherp geslepen, iets meer gewicht op de kop voor de zwaai en toch niet te zwaar om te hanteren. Vorige week de blauwe regen op de pergola gesnoeid, deze heeft uitlopers op de knotten, die hak je er heel gemakkelijk af, elke klap raak. Pas wel op waar je de vrije hand houdt, kan me zomaar voorstellen dat het lelijke wonden oplevert.
