Full description
The 815GM has a blade of XC75-carbon steel, which is incredibly sharp. As with all carbon steel blades, it requires some care to keep it from rusting. When opening the blade it is not locked but a strong spring keeps it from accidentally opening.

I bought this French knife more because of its interesting history than its use as a tool. However its very easy knife to carry, the blade is an interesting shape (although not particularly sharp) surprisingly it has a half stop! I found it to be rough around the edges but a nice knife overall. If you wanted a knife thats similar but more suited to daily carry perhaps a Boker Plus Atlas or Otter Mercator C75 (s/s handle) both of which can be had for a little less than the Douk-Douk and with better fit and finish.
