The Lansky mini sharpener is compact, lightweight and easy to carry. The little knife sharpener features a keychain ring and two removable ceramic sharpening steels. Very helpful if your knife needs a quick sharpening turn en route. The Sharpener is suitable for knives with a plain edge.
How to use the Lansky mini sharpener
Step 1: Place the sharpening system on a flat surface, on a pleasant working height.
Step 2: Assure yourself of the fact that the sharpening steels are secured firmly in the sharpener. If the ceramic steels are secured firmly in the clips, the sharpener is ready for use.
Step 3: Keep the knife sharpener in place firmly with one hand, and make sure it can not shift during use.
Step 4: Place the knife in the upright position at the top of the sharpener, as if cutting a loaf of bread.
Step 5: Start sharpening by placing the end of the blade at the top of the stone. When pulling the knife along the steel, you also move it down the steel at the same time. Keep the knife in the upright position to maintain a steady sharpening angle. Repeat this for the other side of the blade, using the other sharpening steel for this.
The sharpening steels can be placed in the groove at the front of the sharpener, for sharpening pointy objects. For example,
fish hooks or darts. However, the steels are not entirely secured in this position, so it's important to stay focused when sharpening.
When the ceramic sharpening steels are discoloured to black, it's time to clean them. You can use gentle liquid soap for this, or the special Lansky eraser block. This will make your steels as good as new again.
