Italian design has a high name to uphold. The beautiful details of the TiSpine knives by Lionsteel show us that this is not without cause. The handle is machined from a single piece of titanium. Only 2 screws are used to assemble the knife. The grooves are designed by designer Robert Young Pelton in a smooth pattern and cut out by a CNC lathe within close tolerances. Pelton's goal with this knife was to create the most slender, strongest pocket knife in existence.   
  


The blade of Elmax powder steel is blocked by a framelock. A thumb hole enables one-handed opening.   
  


The pocket clip is designed with the same care as the rest of the knife. The pocket clip is mounted on the far edge, to make the knife disappear almost entirely in your pocket.  
   
   
  


This extremely functional knife is perfect for someone who loves design, technique and beautiful materials.

Een goedkope manier om kunst te kopen.  Superlatieven schieten te kort bij het aanschouwen van de Ti spine.
Dit mes is vanuit alle hoeken bekeken werkelijk een schoonheid. 
Toch enige aanmerkingen.
Bij een mes van deze prijs verwacht je geen dunne Teflon washers maar minstens messing of een combo of zelfs kogellagers. Dit laatste zou ook het openen nog zoveel soepeler maken.  Maar het volstaat. 
Minder enthousiast ben ik over de 'factory edge' .  
Was dan niet bot, maar zeker niet scheermes scherp. 
Ik heb de snede nu gepolijst en enig materiaal weggehaald om de hoek te veranderen. Het origineel was 18°a 20°per zijde,  hetgeen ik voor een luxe mes een te grote slijphoek vind. 
Het lemmet snijdt nu al beter en zal met elke slijp beurt beter worden.
Elmax laat zich goed slijpen maar het is een stuk harder dan bijvoorbeeld 8Cr14MoV.  Geduld is geboden. 
Oppassen met de anodisering want die is er zo afgeslepen. Afplakken dus.
Of opsturen naar de professionals. 
Toch: ware geld geen probleem, kocht ik de Lionsteel Ti spine in alle kleuren.
