NiteCore has a truly unique range of torches called the Chameleon series. This series features several LEDs in various colours. They can all produce red, green and blue light and are located on the side of the torch. These LEDs can also operate in a strobe mode with an alternating red and blue flashing light. There are also two primary LEDs in the heart of the reflector. Naturally, the primary white source is derived from a Cree XP-G2 (R5) with a maximum output of 440 lumens. In addition to this primary white LED, there is room for a second LED. Its colour depends on the chosen variant: red, green, blue, ultra violet or infrared. Ultra violet is ideal for many applications, such as hunting, checking bank notes to see if they are counterfeit, forensics and many other uses. The primary LEDs have a considerably higher light output than the secondary LEDs located on the side of the torch. That is why it is advisable to actually select the green variant when you want green light, even though the red variant can also produce green light.
Besides these unique functions, the torches from this series can also be used as modern LED torches with all the features you could want. In addition to their four brightness modes, the Chameleons also feature a strobe, SOS and beacon mode. The tactical switch also has a momentary-on mode, which switches the torch on when pressed halfway down. The side switch allows users to select the desired brightness modes. This switch also includes a blue LED, which displays the battery voltage.
The NiteCore Chameleon is powered by 2 x CR123A batteries or one 18650 battery (Button Top). The Chameleon comes complete with holster, steel pocket clip with titanium coating, lanyard, and a spare O-ring and rubber boot switch.
