The Nitecore EC20 LED flashlight is very compact and ingenious. In fact, it's so compact that you hardly notice that it works on an 18650 battery (or two CR123A batteries). You can easily check the status of the batteries by tightening the torch. If the light blinks four times, it has sufficient capacity. If it only blinks once, you know that the battery needs to be changed.
Nitecore EC20 ingenuity: one button for all functions
There are two switches on the side of the flashlight. One switch to turn the light on and off, and one switch to get to the different light modes. The flashlight has four different light modes: ultra low, low, medium and turbo. These modes can be selected by holding the button after turning on the light. Thanks to the memory function, the flashlight remembers the last selected brightness level.
The Nitecore EC20 has three different special functions: strobe, SOS and beacon mode. These special functions can be selected by pressing and holding the button twice. Holding the button changes the flashlight's special function. The ultra low output function is a nice addition. This switches the flashlight to a brightness setting of 1 lumen, so you don't get immediately blinded after a walk in the dark. You can activate this function by holding the button for more than one second while the flashlight is turned off.

*The light intensity specification is according to the ANSI / NEMA FL 1-2009 standard. This means that the values may be lower than the old specifications. This lower value naturally has no effect on the actual light intensity of the flashlight. The advantage of the ANSI / NEMA FL 1-2009 standard is that the values can be compared and give a realistic image of everyday experience.
