The Robert Klaas Monolith 2000 Lockback is a large and cool pocket knife designed for the hunt. You don’t have to be a real enthusiast to recognize this classic design. Over the past 50 years this type of pocket knife has been produced by just as many knife brands. This, however, is a really stunning and stylish edition of this ‘ancient’ design.
The handle on this Robert Klaas knife is made from Snake wood. It doesn’t get any fancier than that. It is also called amourette or letter wood. The spotted pattern in the wood might almost remind you of red-brown camouflage. Almost feline. Stunning! The ricasso (the flat part just below the edge) has been enhanced with the Hen & Rooster logo: the two famous chickens who unitedly look in the same direction. The bolsters are made from luxurious nickel silver.
This knife has been enhanced with a clippoint blade. It can be opened with two hands and a lock back firmly keeps the knife in place when opened. A rock-solid lock that has definitely earned its stripes over the years.
The blade is made from 440C steel. Stainless, easy to sharpen and it retains it sharpness well. A real type of ‘ancient’ steel standing at the basis of many modern alloys.
