The **Southern Grind GranDaddy** is an awesome looking machete. The blade is made from recycled circular saw blades which really give it character! It still has visible scratches from another life. If you look closely you can see even a kind of circular pattern in the steel from the thousands of rotations the saw blade has made throughout its life.




Using this circular saw blade is good for the environment, but that is not the only advantage. Southern Grind says that the heating and cooling process which takes place during sawing, has actually changed the structure of the steel. Southern Grind also hardens the blades themselves. This means that the back rear part of the edge is 62 HRC, which runs through to the tip where the hardness is only 50HRC. This makes the tip suitable for chopping while the edge, right before the handle, can retain sharpness very well. Southern Grind claims that the blade can even be bent up to 90 degrees in emergency situations, without breaking. Please note that the 8670 carbon steel is very flexible, but not stainless!




The grip of the GranDaddy is made of G10. A solid material which gives great grip through the milled texture, even during chopping. 




The Southern Grind GranDaddy comes in a cleverly designed kydex sheath. You can carry it around with both the belt clip and the shoulder strap. What is really innovative is how the knife clicks inside the sheath. Right in front of the handle they have created a little space which clicks inside the sheath and secures it tightly. 




**Because the GranDaddy is made out of recycled materials, each knife is truly unique! The scratched details will be different in each of the knives.**
