Full description
The TOPS Tahoma is a large fixed survival knife with some useful features. It has a sharp finger choil by which you can perform more precise tasks. The back of the tip of the blade has another cutting edge. You can use this when the regular edge gets a bit blunt and it also helps with piercing certain materials. A bit further back on the blade there’s a double cut-out with a small serration. You can use it to mark where exactly you want to start chopping. It also comes in handy when you want to get a pan off of a fire.
Despite its size the Tahoma fairly light-weight. Because of the low weight and the extensive MOLLE compatible sheath, the knife can easily be brought on long camping trips and hikes.
The blade is finished with a unique Black River Wash, named after a river in the Tex Creek area. This gives the knife a very rugged look. This finish on the blade still clearly shows how the steel is hardened. This Black River Wash does not protect against rust on the 1095 carbon steel. Regular cleaning and a drop of oil is necessary to prevent rust.
