I've always had a problem getting knives sharp and maintaining the correct bevel, whether using a whetstone or an electric bench grinder. This system has cured that as it produces a perfect bevel at precisely the correct angle (I have the system that has the micro adjustment) and a razor sharp edge. Do as the instructions suggest and break the stones in on some old knives. My first two results were disappointing, a combination of new stones and my poor technique. However, by knife 5, I was getting results that not only took the hair off my arm, but look good as well. The basic kit with the 100/200 and 400/600 stones produce a very sharp knife but I'd recommend getting the finer stones (800/1000) as well as they finish the edge ready for a final polish. The downside is that the system is pricey and therefore not going to be for everyone, but I'd certainly recommend this for people like me who appreciate a sharp knife but had never had the skill needed to produce one.
