The *Wüsthof Ikon 6-piece steak knife set* is a luxurious steak knife set in a leather sheath. Each steak knife in this set is enhanced with a handle made from a different type of remarkable wood. The handmade leather sheath made from Tuscan cowhide is an elegant solution to safely store or transport this luxurious and remarkable steak knife set.

## Wüsthof Ikon steak knife handle: different types of wood

The darkest handle is Grenadilla wood from Africa. The light brown handle is American walnut wood. The brown-red and black striped handle is Bocote from Latin America. The almost white handle with black specks is carved maple wood from Canada. The other white handle with a wild wood grain is Scandinavian birch root wood. The almost orange handle with straight wood grain is Brazilian Bahia rosewood. It doesn't get much more special than that. Please note that these are very special types of wood with each their own unique pattern. As a result the knife you receive might not look the same as the knife in the product photographs. The types of wood and quality of the finish, however, are always the same.

## Wüsthof Ikon steak knife blade

Even though the handle is in this case the highlight of the knife it doesn't mean that no attention was paid to the blade. Like with other Wüsthof collections the blade is made from X50CrMoV15 steel, which was sharpened according to the PEtec method, and polished by hand. The knife is not enhanced with serrations. The result is a razor-sharp blade that will cut the meat instead of tearing it. This type of steel is also easy to sharpen. Another advantage of this blade is the crop. This doesn't fully run up to the edge, but does clearly separate the handle from the blade. As such you not only keep your fingers safe, you can also use the entire edge. Also great when you want to sharpen the knife.
