The **Condor K-TAC Kukri Knife 1812-10HC** is a powerful machete in the classic kukri style. It has a tough appearance and is suitable for heavy tasks. Originally, the kukri was a knife used by the feared and revered Gurkhas in Nepal. These fierce warriors used their kukris day in and day out. Due to the blade shape, a large part of the weight is placed at the front. It is therefore excellent for chopping.



The blade has a convex grind. It's nice and strong, and can be sharpened with a strop. The blade of the Condor Heavy Duty Kukri is made of 1075 carbon steel. This is a strong steel that is easy to sharpen, and can also take quite a beating. 1075, however, is not completely stainless, so you need to clean it regularly and add a drop of oil once in a while. The knife has a strong full-tang construction. This means that the thickness of the blade runs throughout the entire handle.



The handle is made from micarta. This is a strong composite material made from linen and synthetic resin. The scales are secured with hollow pins, and there is a sturdy steel plate at the end of the handle. You can use these as an improvised hammer. The Condor K-TAC Kukri Knife comes with a solid Kydex sheath with a belt loop.

Habe schon mehrere Kukri von Condor mit Lederscheide und Holzgriff. Das hier hat Micarta Griffschalen und eine Kydexscheide. Bei den mit Holzgriffschalen variiert der Griffdurchmesser von Messer zu Messer etwas. Das dürfte bei den Mikartagriffschalen nucht der Fall sein. Zudem sind hier drei Nietenösen verbaut. Bei der Holzvariante ist es nur die am Griffende. Der Preis der Micarta-Kydexvariante ist fast 1|3 höher. Die Messer sind sonst identisch. Ob sich der Mehrpreis lohnt, muss jeder selbst entscheiden. Für mich als Kukriliebhaber sind es die besten Messer dieser Form auf dem Markt. Kleiner als das nepalesische Original, jedoch dadurch viel praktikabler. Sehr scharf, handwerklich top verarbeitet und mit fast 6mm Rückenstärke sehr robust. Im Vergleich beider Ausführungen punktet das mit der Lederscheide im Gebrauch und klar im Preis. Die Kydexscheide klemmt etwas beim reinschieben des Messers, man braucht mehr Druck oder Kraftaufwandt, aber auch das ist letzlich Geschmacksache. Die Lederscheide ist etwas kompakter wie die Kydexscheide und lässt sich auch z. B. für das kleinere Kukri von Fox in der Böhlerstahlvariante (im Original mit gewöhnungsbedürftiger Nylonscheide) benutzen. Bei den Condor Kukri in beiden Ausführungen kann die Hand vom Griff ab in die Schneide rutschen, sofern damit zugestochen oder gestoßen wird. Wie bei den originalen Finnenmessern fehlt ein Handschutz. Beim nepalesischen Original hab ich schon welche mit eingelegtem und erhabenem Lederring in der Griffmitte gesehen. Bei den Condorkuri lässt sich bei beiden eine Handschlaufe anbringen und bei dem mit Micarta Griffschalen eine Verdickung in der Mitte der Griffschalen mit Paracord oder ähnlichem an der mittleren Hohlniete befestigen. Ansonsten ist das Messer eine Art Sichel und wird meist mit ziehendem Schnitt geführt, weshalb ein Handschutz entfällt. Der Stahl ist geschätzt nur ca. 55 HRC hart, aber dennoch schnitthaltig und ohne großem Aufwand scharf zu halten. Ich persönlich hab das Kukri Messer von Condor im Set mit einem kleineren (ca. 6cm Klingenlänge, freilich auch ein kompaktes Beil und eine kompakte Säge) generell beim Biwackieren im Wald dabei und fühle mich sicher und bestens ausgerüstet.
