The CRKT Snap Lock has to be one of the most innovative pocket knives on the market. This pocket knife was designed by Ed van Hoy and originally introduced in 2005. It immediately won the prize for the most innovative pocket knife. Since then there have been few knives that use an even more special mechanism. In the meantime, the Snap Lock disappeared from the CRKT range for a short period of time. Fortunately, the Snap Lock is back!
The special thing about the SnapLock is that you pull the blade sideways out of its handle. This sometimes results in somewhat surprised faces when you pull the Snap Lock from your pocket. 'How does it open?' is a frequently asked question. It is actually very simple when you understand how it operates. At the same time, you also see the ingenuity. When closed, push down the latch that protrudes from the handle. This actually pushes the entire frame apart. The inside has a cut-out with enough room for the blade. As such the lock works the same when closed and opened. It might take some practice but after a while you can easily open this knife with one hand. Due to the thickness of the frame, you are well protected against the sharp edge.
The CRKT Snap Lock is a beautiful addition to any pocket knife collection. A unique piece of mechanism that is also perfectly usable.
The CRKT Snap Lock comes with a paracord necklace with a quick release.
