The DMT Dia-Flat Lapping Plate is ideal for flattening your (Japanese) sharpening stones. The Dia-Flat has been certified with a tolerance of 0.0005 "(0,0127 mm). To guarantee this tolerance over longer period of time, this stone is set in solid, heavy steel. It is very heavy with its 1775 grams.
You use the lapping plate by moving it over the sharpening stone. When you use running tap water to make flattening go easier.
These 95 micron/160 mesh is especially suitable for the surfaces of harder grinding stones, for example with a higher grit size.
Please note that the DMT Dia-Flat Lapping Plate is only suitable for the surfaces of whetstones such as those of Eden or Naniwa. This should absolutely not be used on diamond sharpening stones.

The DMT Dia-Flat has a lots of dots consists of what I guess is the metal binder for the diamonds. Some spots with diamonds. The dots are by themselves taller then the tolerance for the total plate area that DMT so proudly claims is followed. The plate scratch up my water stones totally. knivesandtools are extremely slow in helping, if at all?
