The ESEE Laser Strike is the big brother of Model 4. He is slightly larger which gives your hand a little more space. The blade is made of 1095 carbon steel. The extremely durable powder coating on the blade helps protect against the larger rust susceptibility known to carbon steel. The great performance of the steel guarantee a life long pleasure. The full tang blade features a micarta handle. This handle feels somewhat rough, which is good for grip and comfort.
The handle is equipped with an elevation for your index finger. This knife has such a fantastic grip, that you don't understand why other knives need a full row of curves in the handle to feel that comfortable. Also the heel of the blade features such a curve. This curve serves as a resting place for your thumb, to give a solid grip. The ridges on the top are exactly at the right place for your thumb. This way the knife is very good to steer and can be used for, for example, food preparation.
On the inside of the handle, the Laser Strike shows that it is a true survival knife: here turns out to be a hidden firestarter. Not easily accessible, but indispensable in case of emergency. A ring on the sheath can be used to unscrew the handle. A multi tool works more convenient, by the way.
The handgrip has a hollow in the surface: the 'bow drill divot'. That is intended to make fire. You use a wooden stick and spin this arround quickly by the help of a bow. It needs a wooden base and some flammable material. It is the most basic way of making fire, but it can work amazingly well. In any case, you can conclude that with the Laser Strike you are prepared for everything.
The Laser Strike comes with an excellent fitting kydex sheath. Also a plastic plate with steel belt clip is separately included in delivery. It may seem like details, but a good sheath contributes a lot to the ease of use and fun of a knife. And the Laser Strike leaves nothing to wish for in that respect!
