Reasons to choose ESEE

Easy to maintain, sharp and strong

ESEE knives are designed to help you survive in the jungle, and they do so perfectly well. These knives are strong, easy to maintain and able to hold a sharp edge. ESEE knives meet the requirements of outdoor enthusiasts thanks to the use of 1095-carbon steel for the blade. This steel is easy to sharpen and maintain, it retains its sharpness for a long time, and it's also incredibly strong and robust. So, if you ever find yourself in the woods, with little to no supplies available, a knife from ESEE can be a lifesaver. The only thing the knife regularly needs is to remove any corrosion that might have formed, as this steel is not stainless. However, ESEE has a solution: many models have an extra protection against corrosion thanks to a special powder coating. Many ESEE knives feature micarta handles, a robust and grippy material even in wet conditions. As such, it's the perfect handle material for outdoor use!

Craftsmanship

The knives by ESEE owe their strong, robust character to ESEE's skilled manufacturing process. Heat treatment is an extremely important step to achieve the final properties of the blade. ESEE knives has truly perfect this process. As a result, you'll have to try very hard if you wanted to break the steel. If you try hard enough, of course any knife can break. ESEE knives are definitely strong enough to handle both heavy-duty use and everyday use.

ESEE 3

The ESEE 3 series is smaller than other ESEE knives. It is a compact, lightweight survival knife, perfect for hikers and professionals.

ESEE 4

The ESEE 4 is a medium-sized survival knife suitable for all kinds of tasks, like making kindling or woodworking. It's the all-rounder of ESEE's range.

ESEE 5

The ESEE 5 is a heavy knife that won't break. With its 6.5-mm blade and 435 grams of weight, the ESEE 5 is a strong knife that can handle its own.

ESEE 6

Whereas the ESEE 5 is one of the heaviest knives in ESEE's range, the ESEE 6 is a fairly long knife with a blade length of over 16 cm. This large knife is great for survival tasks and bushcraft activities. Truly, a knife made to be used. With its long blade it's also suitable for some chopping work.

ESEE Candiru

Is a survival knife too big for you but a pocket knife too small or not sturdy enough? Check out the ESEE Candiru! This small, fixed knife is the perfect little companion when travelling. It's a practical little knife with lots of possible applications. Less is more, as they say.

ESEE Izula

The Izula is a compact, razor-sharp survival knife that can also be worn as a neck knife. Don't underestimate its size though! This knife can handle its own. This small survival knife is ideal to carry alongside a larger knife, as it is perfect for precise cutting tasks.

ESEE Junglas

The ESEE Junglas is like a super-sized survival knife. Thanks to the thick blade and sturdy construction, this knife is perfect for cutting your way through dense vegetation, for example. This versatile knife is also great as a heavy-duty all-rounder around your campsite.

ESEE product types

ESEE pocket knives

ESEE pocket knives are made to be as practical and almost as strong as ESEE's fixed knives. The main difference? A pocket knife is easier to carry with you in your day-to-day life, while you probably won't carry the ESEE 5 for EDC use.

History of ESEE

ESEE is an American brand making high-quality bushcraft knives and survival knives. The brand was founded in 2000 by Jeff Randall and Mike Perrin, and was initially named RAT Cutlery (RAT stands for Randall's Adventure & Training). They focussed on designing and manufacturing durable knives suitable for outdoor use and survival situations. The RAT-1 and RAT-2 are still known for their robust construction, high-quality materials and affordability. These knives quickly rose in popularity, especially with their target audience of outdoor enthusiasts.

In 2010, RAT Cutlery was renamed ESEE Knives to avoid any possible legal confusion with another company. Their dedication to manufacturing premium knives remained unchanged. ESEE has since expanded their range and now offers a variety of knives suitable for different applications, including survival, bushcraft, hunting and tactical use.
